Dand Story
You know the drill.

Pre-PS
The Dands will remain relatively quiet in the pre-PS era, mostly just improving their relations with the other species and engaging in trade. They also operate in the Beta Quadrant free zone where they conduct raiding and pirating. Their relations towards the UCP start to get better at this time.
They saw a lot of potential in the Peace Station and were actively funding and supporting it.
Peace Station Era
Dands started smuggling and pirate operations almost immediately the station went operational. Dands could be behind the attacks depicted in the ??? episode. Or then they might just lay low at this time and do only rare and small attacks.
In the second season they start to increase their operations as they had been succesful. It is also during this season that their raids are finally stopped and the beginning of the Dominion war also prevents them from conducting much raid activity.
Some of the leading Dand houses see a good opportunity with the Dominion and welcome them as allies, allowing them to take over the Dand government. Most of the other houses manage to flee to UCP territories along with some of their "military". The "allies" manage to overthrow the houses that allied with the Dominion, forcing the Dominion forces out of Dand space. They kidnap the leaders of the leading houses, leading them to fall. This is the point where the Dands start to consider UCP membership as they realize that in today's galaxy they are unable to exist alone and most likely would get themselves killed because of the leading houses.
Two of the remaining Dand houses aren't ready to give-up on their power just yet. Aided secretively by the Folans they seek to sabotage the membership negotiations, but their plan fails badly and they are later on arrested as traitors. Leaving only few of the houses standing. The final resistance of the houses failed and they were forced to accept all conditions in the membership talks and finally joining the UCP sometime during the 5th season.
